CRANES 101 EXPLAINED.

There are many different types of cranes that are available through crane hire, so it is important to know what each crane is designed for.  Cranes are designed predominately to move weights with levers or pulleys, although they may look modern they have been used for the last 2000 years. The Romans used cranes to build large monuments; medieval churches were also constructed with the aid of cranes.  Cranes have both simple and complicated means of use and we are going to look more at them.

One simple crane is the mobile crane; this crane has a telescopic boom that is mounted on a movable platform.  It is the levers and the pulleys that move the boom of this crane while at the end of it it has a hook attached at its bottom.  Mobile cranes are suitable for city work as they can be transported easily; crane hire companies often aid the transport and lifting of their crane.  The platform of a mobile crane may either have wheels that are designed for railroad tracks or caterpillar tracks.

The mobile crane can be used for demolition or earthmoving as the hook at the end of the crane can be changed to a ball or wrecking bucket, dependent on the crane hire job. Other cranes that are mobile are rough terrain cranes and truck mounted cranes. To keep a truck mounted crane stable it is good for them to be fitted with outriggers. Cranes that are designed for rough terrain have a base that is not dissimilar to a 4 wheel drive vehicle; they are good for picking up transport materials.

there are other cranes that are hydraulic powered and are used to load goods on trailers as they  have joints that can fold, they are generally called the loader cranes. They are fairly similar to telescopic cranes as on some sections of this type of crane there may be a section of the boom that uses telescope of easier use.

You may find that you require floating cranes for crane hire if your project is involved within the shipping industry.  They are situated in water and are usually used for the construction of ports, to salvage ships or to aid with building bridges. The floating cranes can be used to offload awkward looking containers as they are just designed to do this so check it out!.

other kind of cranes used for hire are the tower cranes , despite the fact that they do not have a movable base. When it comes to constructing this kind of crane, it is done so step by step as they are very tall. The base of the crane looks like a long ladder and the boom is perpendicular to the base.  Tower cranes are designed in that they can aid the construction of very tall buildings as well as the sky scrapper buildings. There are generally two major things to be considered .the first consideration is that the stability it has and the specified mass.
